Hi! I'm Ashley.
For those who don't know, 귤 (gyul) is the Korean word for mandarin orange. 🍊 It's also the inspiration behind the little tangerine you'll find throughout my portfolio—a small nod to my Korean heritage and the idea that the smallest details can leave a lasting impression. Not to mention it being my favorite fruit!
Design has been part of my life long before I knew what to call it. From sketching fashion collections as a kid to playing violin for eight years, I was always drawn to creative forms of expression. That curiosity eventually found its way to digital tools, where I spent hours making edits on apps like PicsArt and Canva and discovered the joy of bringing ideas to life.
When I arrived at Cornell University, I initially majored in Communication because I was fascinated by how people connect, share meaning, and interact through technology. But after taking Introduction to Digital Product Design and spending late nights building my first case study, I realized I didn't just want to study technology; I wanted to shape it.
Since then, I've helped take products from 0 to 1, designed experiences for real users through Cornell's Digital Tech & Innovation program, and collaborated with startups to bring early ideas to life. I'm especially interested in the intersection of UX design and data, where research, insights, and human stories come together to inform thoughtful decisions.
